TIP delivers for Tuffnells
Parcels business Tuffnells has recently seen a fresh batch of trailers go into service, following an agreement with TIP to supply new tandem axle box van trailers and curtainsiders. The latest additions to the Tuffnells fleet are all based on SDC chassis, whilst fleet additions later in the year will comprise both SDC and Don-Bur brands.
In addition to the fleet acquisitions, TIP has also handled a major de-fleet programme for Tuffnells, disposing of their older trailers, resulting in further cost-saving and fleet efficiencies for the business.
The Tuffnells / TIP relationship is based on a partnership that began four years ago when TIP first took over the maintenance of their trailer and drawbar fleet. TIP subsequently embarked on a programme to update fleet livery and support promotion of the refreshed Tuffnells brand.
Commenting on the relationship between the two companies, Mike Furnival, managing director, TIP Trailer Services UK&I, said, “By offering Tuffnells a flexible approach to their requirements over the years, we have been able to develop a long-term committed relationship with them and have now become their partner of choice.”
Mike continues, “With TIP, Tuffnells benefit from a single point designated account management and operations team who work to meet agreed monthly KPIs and provide Tuffnells with complete cost control and a 24/7 maintenance support programme. They get the whole package with TIP and it works for them by giving them a truly consistent service wherever they are,” added Mike Furnival.
The Tuffnells account is managed by Tom Moore and the TIP team at Simonswood, near Liverpool, who coordinate all operations between the two companies.
The new trailers, featuring updated livery, will be rolled out across all Tuffnells’ 33 depots nationwide.
Tuffnells Services Director, Simon Parsons commented, “It is vital that we continue to invest in our fleet in order to deliver the best possible service for our customers. Our rolling upgrade plan is well under way, and our relationship with TIP has been integral to this, helping to deliver the fleet we need for the future.”
