Celebrating our first Mechanic Team Competition
In 2021, for the first time in TIP’s history, we launched the international Mechanic Team Competition (MTC), with over 100 teams competing across Europe and Canada.
As part of our company culture, we are committed to celebrating the talents and expertise of our people. Our mechanics are the heroes that ensure the flawless operation of keeping our customers’ fleet going. We therefore devised this competition to highlight and celebrate their skills, knowledge, and talent!
What is the Mechanic Team Competition?
The Mechanic Team Competition is an internal global competition between all our mechanics who want to test their technical skills against their colleagues. As this is a team competition, those who wanted to participate had to find a partner within their workshop to complete the dynamic duo.
The different stages of the competition
The MTC was divided into four rounds:
- 1st round: Internal workshop competition, which took place in October 2021
- 2nd round: National competition, which took place in December 2021
- 3rd round: Regional competition (Nordic region, Benelux region, Central region, Mediterranean region, Benelux region, UK & Ireland region, and Canadian region), which took place in April 2022
- Final round: Final in our workshop in Valencia, Spain, which took place in May 2022
All rounds were completed with special attention to safety awareness measures considering the safety of the participants.
At every level the teams had to compete on three individual elements:
- Practical ability, such as skills, speed, and quality
- Theoretical knowledge, with the difficulty increasing each round
- IT proficiency of the team players, such as how to find technical data and how to use TIP’s software
Winners of each round got to proceed to the next one, and the jury was composed of internal workshop managers and maintenance experts.
The results of the final global round!
The final round was held on Tuesday, May 10th in Valencia, Spain. Six teams, representing Italy, The Netherlands, Canada, Poland, United Kingdom, and Sweden, competed against each other for the last time.
As we had to postpone the event due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were very excited to welcome the finalists to sunny Valencia.
We are thrilled to announce the first ever Mechanic Team Competition winner - Team Bretje, our Dutch team from the Benelux region. The Swedish team (Nordic region) came second, followed by Poland (Central region) who placed third. A huge thank you and congratulations to all the other finalists, but also every team that competed across all levels – you all did stellar job!
