TIP Group acquires Trailer Auto Group (TAG) to strengthen refurbishment services in the UK

TIP Group, one of Europe’s leading truck and trailer equipment services providers, is excited to announce the acquisition of Trailer Auto Group (TAG), a state-of-the-art trailer refurbishment facility located in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. This strategic move enhances TIP’s capabilities and extends its commitment to providing exceptional services in the transportation sector.

Established in 2022, TAG boasts a modern workshop with 41 bays and a dedicated workforce of 105 employees, including 85 skilled mechanics. TIP Group expects all TAG employees to transition seamlessly into TIP, ensuring continuity and expertise within the team.

TAG has built a reputation as a trusted service partner for blue-chip companies and smaller transport companies and the acquisition comes at a time when trailer refurbishment has become increasingly vital due to rising new equipment costs and corporate ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) demands.

TAG Press Release

“Acquiring TAG will significantly enhance our ability to extend the life of our fleet and expand our offerings to both existing and new customers,” said Mike Furnival, managing director UK & Ireland at TIP Group. “The workshop’s central location will facilitate trailer refurbishment, damage repairs, servicing, and MOT preparation.”

This acquisition is expected to provide opportunities to strengthen TIP’s refurbishment business and upsell its comprehensive range of products and services. With the addition of TAG, TIP now operates 30 locations in the UK.

TIP is committed to ensuring a smooth transition of business operations, maintaining the high standard of service that customers have come to expect whilst preserving TAG’s established local contacts.

The refurbishment of trailers has become increasingly important to extend fleet life and embrace sustainability. Acquiring TAG, with its expertise in full scale refurbishment, means TIP can further strengthen its refurbishment services to customers. Supporting customers to refurbish to near-new quality and performance helps minimize operational costs, and reduce environmental impact, while saving on the cost of buying new equipment.

The acquisition marks a significant step in TIP’s growth journey in the UK & Ireland. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in this important acquisition for TIP and warmly welcome TAG to the TIP family.
